Today Andrew is 25 years old, and to celebrate that milestone Emily and I flew to Utah and left him in Kansas to install security systems.
He was out of town all week, so we decided to to have the birthday festivities last Sunday. Emily and I prepared all day Saturday for the big event, partially because walking to and from Walmart took the morning. We got his gifts, made lasagna, and baked a German chocolate cake. I could see no reason to add wrapping paper to our random list of things to squeeze into our car at the end of the summer, so I made my own and then wrapped and hid the presents.
Andrew wasn’t expecting any of this, probably because he knows me well enough now to understand that gift giving is not a talent of mine. I want it to be, but my brain just doesn’t think that way. But 25 is a big deal, so I tried really hard.
He got home early Friday morning so he could take us to the airport. I thought it would be fun to have just one more surprise for him on his actual birthday, so I blew up 25 balloons. I had no idea tying 25 balloons would give me horrible blisters, so I’ve decided that was a once in a lifetime activity. I have no idea what Andrew’s reaction was (because I was asleep…) but Emily sure thought they were awesome.

You’re such a wonderful wife to that hubby of yours. These are the kinds of stories you hear in general conference talks Thanks for being an example to the rest of us!
Jessica
Katie you are so kind, and an amazing example yourself!

I’m sure that you are busy busy in Utah and don’t have time to see us, but with Emily so close by it sure is tempting to want to “bump into you” somewhere! We should Skype sometime to fill the void! :)
Jessica
We should run into each other next week! Will you still be in Provo?

Gift giving isn’t my talent either! I so wish it was. It comes so easily to some people.
