Andrew and I have tried to squeeze in some Christmas fun now that we have moved and Andrew has finished teaching for the semester. The first addition to our festivities was a Christmas tree. We actually had given up on the Christmas tree idea, but then Andrew’s mom showed up with the most wonderful surprise:
6 1/2 foot pre-lit Christmas tree!!!
Once the tree was in place, it inspired a whole slew of decorating activities. We put up the few ornaments we had, added our snowflake creations (Andrew’s are amazing!), made a paper chain, and instead of an angel or star, Andrew put a paper crane he made on the top of the tree.
We only have one nativity scene-made out of banana leaves from Africa-so I decided to make a little one to add to our meager collection. Notice the stone manger, which is what was being used during the time of Christ.
Andrew and I have also thoroughly enjoyed pomegranate season. We stumbled upon this video that makes getting the seeds out super easy and fast.
Last night we went to the wonderful Jackson Family Christmas party. Andrew and I made our debut performance as Mary and Joseph.

I don’t think I ever told you how impressed I am with your sculpturing talent. If you are ever looking for a gift idea for me in the future, you can make me a cute nativity like yours!
