Andrew and I have usually been pretty good about doing something for a date at home each week, but lately we’ve been trying to actually go out, without Emily. It has been awesome. We’ve been very grateful for our friends that are willing to swap babysitting with us.
Last Saturday we headed to downtown Lafayette to see some event that we knew nothing about. When we arrived we discovered it was a $20 entrance fee. No thanks. So we instead wandered around a bit and then went to a pinball arcade. We found one machine we really like – one token for a three ball game of pinball hockey style. We played once by ourselves, during which time Andrew set an impossibly high score with a lot of luck, and then played the rest where we each take a side. It is a great $2 activity. We have extremely little knowledge or experience with pinball and we had fun trying something completely random.
Next stop was ice cream at the Silver Dipper. We had coupons for a free mini scoop. We didn’t realize that a mini scoop would be the size of a ping pong ball. It was so rich and delicious the small amount was probably perfect.
We finished up the night hiking around some woods. We didn’t really think through this idea and by the end we were both covered in bug bites. We are still covered in bug bites, almost a week later. At least they bring back happy memories. The place was awesome and we will be going back again soon, just drenched in bug spray.
As a final parting note, Emily likes her ant watching up close and personal.
