This year I feel like we embraced Easter for the holiday that it truly is – a day to remember the life, death, and resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ. Taking time to remember Palm Sunday got us talking about the last week of Christ’s life. The big take away for Emily this year is that “Jesus is the King”.
On Saturday morning we sat down and watched a number of videos as a family about Easter, Jesus Christ, and the resurrection. We talked Emily through the Bible Videos. I love the opportunities I have to think about and share what I believe with our children. We watched this video a number of times this last week and it has me thinking about the resurrection of Jesus Christ in a new light.
On Sunday we gathered with a large group of friends and the missionaries serving in our ward for a potluck dinner and an Easter program where every family shared a story about Jesus and a musical number that went along with the story. There were so many adults, children, and babies around that it felt exactly like a large family gathering. The adults chatted, the kids played, and we all enjoyed gathering around together for a formal, kid friendly, spiritual evening. We left feeling a little more at home and very grateful for our unconventional extended family.
