This year I hit a major life milestone: I’ve finally lived somewhere long enough to officially have a yearly tradition! We went to Exploration Acres for the third time, and each year it gets better and better. We went with a group of friends which included three toddlers and two smiley six month olds. We enjoyed playing with all of the attractions at the front and then walking through the corn maze. This year we took the hayride to the maze, which was a fun addition to the day. Andrew was our faithful leader and we followed him wherever he led. Phoebe had the brilliant idea to grab a wagon for the toddlers in the corn maze. It was a lifesaver for both tired feet and containing the desire to dart away into the depths of the corn. We were there for a couple of hours and snacks saved us in the end. Watching Emily and her friends experience the day felt so good and has given us a good collection of happy memories to pull out in the future.
Checking out the hay tunnel. Emily invited me to join them, “mommy come!”
The teeter totter was a huge hit and Emily wanted to keep going up and down long after Arthur was finished. Andrew tried to push the other side, but it wasn’t quite the same.
The bike was a hit, even if it was way to big to pedal herself.
We probably could have left them at the corn ‘sandbox’ all day. She ended up buried all the way up to her knees from all the corn coming down the slide.
The wonderful corn maze crew.
Nalani and Casey were awesome in helping keep track of Emily. She preferred holding Nalani’s hand to anyone else’s (Emily was very excited all morning to see Nalani – she put her boots on over her pajamas to head out to see her soon after she woke up). They also ran out to a stop with all our punch cards and met up with us at the bridge so we didn’t have to haul all the kids quite as far.
Wagon Riders.
At the end it was time to just play with sticks.
Until next year!
