One of the beautiful gifts Grandma gave us was the opportunity to bless Laura Carolyn, who she is named after, in her home with all of our family. Thursday morning, the day after the funeral and our last day in Utah, Andrew’s family drove down to Provo to join us. My mom prepared the dress that Grandma Blomquist had made for her to wear when she was blessed. Emily and I were also blessed in this dress.
Andrew gave her a beautiful blessing. My dad, Andrew’s dad, Derick, Brian, and Sam all stood in the circle together. I never dared to hope that we would have both families present for a baby blessing!
In addition to our families, my Grandpa Blomquist (this was the first time he met our kids and it was really nice to spend that time with him), Aunt Michelle, Uncle Craig, and cousin Caleb were there.
I found this note in her November Review about Laura, “A favorite memory from this month: Learning that my new little great granddaughter is named Laura Carolyn. I’m blown away by that!”
Blessing Laura was a very sweet ending to all of the memories and time spent in Provo with my grandma.
