Saturday we planned to have a slower morning and then head off to the bacon festival in the afternoon. Andrew and Emily made oatmeal bars together; Emily liked the smashing and the sprinkling involved. I love watching the two of them working on the various projects, baking included.
Emily slept later than we expected so we decided to change plans and check out a closer location: fort ouiatenon. It was a fun little stop. Emily wore her backpack just like mom, her chosen pink dress and boots, and held her hands clasped to ensure she would walk by herself. Independence has been the theme of the week.
We took a short tour of the fort and then explored the Indian village. The highlight of the village was the frog we followed as he hopped around.
Andrew and Emily talking and signing about the bugs we were getting bitten by.
We all tried our hand at pumping water. It was fun to see Emily’s excitement as something so unexpected happened.
We checked out the Washbash River before heading home and watched some people bring in their boat.
