Before our baby arrives in November I want to have our home organized, our freezer stocked with meals and snacks, daily routines in place, anything that requires thought to be written down (like my mom’s birthday that I’ve forgotten for two years), and projects that are important to have done in the next eight months complete. With these goals in mind, I’ve had a constant fluctuating to-do list of 40-70 items that ebbs and flows each week.
I’ve been plugging away at many of these things simultaneously since my morning sickness abated to manageable levels. It has been a wonderful blessing to have so much to occupy my mind and body, and I’m hoping that I will be able to just enjoy being a family of four with most of these tasks complete. I am preparing to be really sick for 8 months like I was after Emily was born, but this time try and not sink completely into survival mode. And maybe we will all be lucky and it will be different this time.
I finally have a final product to show for my months of effort. My first official big completed project was our 2014 family yearbook. It is 240 pages full of memories, and it fits nicely next to our 2011, 2012, and 2013 histories. I designed it in InDesign and ordered it through Blurb, which I’ve done a number of times and have been really impressed with the quality. They are kind of expensive, but they have deals every few weeks so I jumped on a 35% off coupon and it made the price very reasonable. I really really really wanted to have this finished before the baby comes – I don’t want to fall a year behind. I love how it turned out and I’m excited to finish more projects in the near future.
