My parents made the 13 hour drive on Monday July 20 to spend some time with us before the baby was born and hopefully be here when she came.
They made excellent time and arrive about 8:45pm, shortly after all the kids were asleep for the night. My mom and I went on a walk that night before turning in.
The next three days were fairly normal schedules. Andrew and my dad both had work mixed in with playing and reading yo the kids. My mom took the kids on lots of walks outside. We watched a great Georgia rainstorm. We made and ate lots of good food. I read lots of books. Emily and my mom made a skirt pattern for her doll and sewed it together. I took advantage of extra adults at home and took naps in the afternoon to make up for not getting much sleep at night. Laura loves playing the Barney game from my childhood that Grandma Moose brought. Grandpa Moose read the entire Boxcar Children book to Emily and Nathan – their favorite!
We played Qwirkle in the evening before I went to the hospital.
I’m so grateful they were here when Andrew and I left. The kids had a fairly normal day on Friday while Andrew and I were gone.
Laura was pretty worn out and when my mom woke up from her nap she discovered Laura had fallen asleep on the air mattress next to her.
Grandpa Moose left Saturday morning before Andrew, Lydia and I got home from the hospital to fly back to Iowa.
