My parents came and visited the weekend of my birthday for our annual family birthday celebration. They arrived early afternoon and we opened presents together. It is fun that three of us have October birthdays and we can do it as a family party. We face-timed with Aunt Christine who had to stay behind for homework.
Emily got a box for her clay creations and some modeling clay to add to our collection. Nathan received more duplos. I was given a butter knife as a place holder for the carving knife that arrived a few days later in the mail. The kids and Andrew also gave me a new bike helmet (since Laura ate the pads out of mine…) and decorated the box for me.
We then went on a little hike at horticulture park. I took a few family’s pictures there earlier in the month and was shocked to discover beautiful wooded trails that I hadn’t known existed. It was super windy day and some trees fell down just in front of us so there were a few tense moments, but it was really fun to get out and explore. We picked up Papa Johns pizza on the way home and enjoyed the warm and easy meal at our home.
It was so fun to have one last visit with them at our house before we moved. We are grateful for how often we were able to get together while we lived in Indiana!
