This weekend my dad came for a short visit. We live close enough that he can pull off a 24 hour trip after work on Friday and before church on Sunday. He arrived after we got the kids into bed so we could just talk for a few hours.
In the morning Emily, my dad, and I went for a couple mile run. Dad set the pace with the stroller which had us cruising at a speed I have not known for years.
We took our time eating a snack and getting ready post-run. While Nathan napped we watched the end of “The Little Prince”. Emily wanted to take some pictures after I snapped a few of Nathan talking on the phone for the first time.
She has such a fun perspective. I was super impressed with her getting Andrew in the mirror.
We decided to have pizza at the park for lunch. Purdue had a home football game this weekend so we waited until after kick-off to go across town and then made it home before the end of the game to avoid traffic. We are feeling pretty seasoned. Emily and my dad played all over the playground until Nathan really needed to go down for a nap.
We all enjoyed slowing down and we all slept. My dad and I played rummikub while we waited for everyone else to wake up. The first thing Emily said when her eyes opened was, “I want to show Grandpa Moose how I ride my bike.” Outside they went followed with some more park playing.
We parted ways at 5:45pm and Grandpa Moose headed towards Iowa. We are loving these 24 hour visits!
