The funny thing about living somewhere for 8 months is that it is too long to not unpack and live in chaos but too short to find great organization for the space and a home for everything.
When we first moved in and realized we had very little storage we built the big shelves for our living room/kitchen space. I finally gave the lower two shelves some attention as a mix of books and kids toys. I love how it turned out!
Every month or so we’ve been doing an overhaul of the kids room to try to find something that will work better. They needed a place to play that Laura couldn’t reach. There was a shelf left over from the previous renters in their room at about my head height. We lowered it and turned it into a duplo building table/desk space. The kids spend a lot of time there. It also gave us a fun spot to display their art and nature prints.
Emily made the I am a Child of God sign from a piece of wood from my Grandma’s cherry tree. Andrew used his hand plane to smooth it out and then Emily sanded it herself. After we applied the decal she decided to use watercolors to paint the wood.
