Two weeks ago Andrew needed to go to Maryland as part of his research four a couple of days. With all of my siblings in Iowa for the summer, Emily, Nathan and I headed out on yet another road trip. We make a great traveling trio.
We left early Sunday morning so we could drive five hours and make it to church at 1pm. Highlights of the week:
Playing Nertz and watching the Olympics after Emily and Nathan went to bed.
Going to Whitey’s for Chippers with Christine driving us all for the first time ever.
Clothes shopping with Grandma Moose wrangling Emily and Nathan.
Seeing Aunt Christine at Gymnastics.
Swimming in the backyard and making a slip and slide with tarps. Derick got his gopro out and we had fun getting a variety of shots.
Emily and Aunt Christine painting fingernails and toenails.
Making a giant car track.
Emily and Nathan waking up at 4:30 or 5am every day and spending 2 hours with Grandpa Moose before he left for work.
Going on early morning runs with the sunrise over cornfields.
Watching Nathan explore a new place.
Playing outside in the backyard in the evenings and Emily trying out some gymnastics moves of her own.
When we left Thursday morning we only made it about thirty minutes before Emily started saying, “It is a great time to go to Grandma Moose’s house. Let’s go right now.”
She also wanted to take a picture on the way home.
