Now that I’m not teaching during the week, I don’t have to sleep all day on Saturdays. We are now using the time for more fun ventures!
Last week we eased in by seeing Iron Man (awesome!!) and eating two large tubs of popcorn followed by a paper tower challenge that we have been giving our 7th graders. The challenge is to build a tower out if a single sheet of paper and 12 inches of tape that stands at least 2 1/2 feet tall on its own. Andrew did some research and sketches while at school and then we got started. We had a really solid base and the total height was over 80 inches, but it didn’t stand very well on its own. After 2+ hours of working we decided we’d rather go to bed than make the paper tower stand. Andrew did make a tower that stood over 60 inches later that week and was way taller than his students, so in the end our work payed off.
This week we enjoyed the beautiful weather with mini golf. We were both really bad but had a great time.
We finished the afternoon with slurpies :)
