A few months ago Emily got the book King Jack and the Dragon by Peter Bently. It took one reading for it to become a family favorite. This is the first book that captured Emily’s imagination enough to bring the story into our lives. Lately the Thing with Four Feet has been in the kitchen and she pushes it out, or it shows up in our car and we have to drive away (the light has turned green just in time).
Yesterday I decided to try and make Christmas stockings. We got the pattern I drew in November and cut it out and pulled the fabric out of the closet. Then the fabric became a cool blanket.
We made it all the way downstairs and tried a few arrangements to figure out how to maximize our material before it turned into a tunnel/fort that we read books in together. Emily LOVED it, and I did everything I could to keep breathing because it was hot in there and I was feeling quite claustrophobic.
Today when Emily asked to do the fort again, I used something besides my own head for the structure. Emily ran in and said, “A fort like King Jack!”
I think I’ll wait a few more days before making those Christmas stockings.
