This week Andrew and I began a new chapter in our life: Intramural Kickball. Wednesday was our debut and we didn’t do too badly. We didn’t know what was going on 98.34% of the time though because there are a million random rules for BYU kickball. For example: if you are an outfielder, you cannot touch a base and get someone out. You have to through the ball to an infielder, and if you do touch the base as an outfielder, it is an automatic safe. Who knew?
So we lost our first game by one point, mostly because of random rules that we were penalized for, due to the fact we didn’t know they existed. Today the team we were supposed to play didn’t show up, so we ended up playing the same team we played on Wednesday. We tied, but had some heroic efforts made on turf and there was more than one bloody limb from sliding home. Andrew is currently icing his ankle with a bag of frozen peas as part of his recovery process.
It will be interesting to see how things go as the season continues. Current standing: 1-1.
