This Friday-Sunday was pretty rough on the morning sickness front. I spent all but a few collective hours in bed during those three days. We almost finished our wooden box project, went on a short walk, and had a typical Sunday talking with family. Andrew and the kids did loads of other fun things I’m sure. Emily had the idea to make butterfly wings for our neighbor on and Nathan wanted to make one for his friend too. It kept them occupied much Sunday morning while Andrew was at meetings and we dropped them off before church.
On Monday the kids were outside by 7:45am. A neighbor offered to watch them at the playground so I could try and clean our bedroom a bit. After three months of hanging out in there with kids there were loads of kids toys, books, treasures, and clothes in every nook and cranny, not to mention our things. But 8:50am I experienced the dictionary definition of overdoing it, so Andrew made me some food and I headed out to recover on the grass and watch the kids play.
We stayed out until noon and came in for lunch, complete with watermelon! Before we all settled in for a break, Emily came into my room and exclaimed, “Mom your room is so clean. What a surprise! I wasn’t expecting that!”
We gathered for popsicles in the backyard after rest and read time, then Andrew took the kids to run a few errands while I rested a bit more. When they got home Andrew set to work making a delicious dinner while I worked with Emily cleaning her room, per her request. I found Nathan downstairs relaxing on the floor, worn out from a full day with no naps (he only takes one 20% of the time now). We finished about the same time and came down for a delicious feast of homemade black bean veggie burgers, sweet potato fries, kiwis, and chocolate pie for dessert.
Emily stayed up late playing in her clean room and came in to tell me she was taking out one thing at a time. I started reading The Martian and I’m LOVING it. A wonderful three day weekend.
