Emily has been growing so fast it is hard for me to keep up with her daily developments. To illustrate this, a brief story. Last week I was holding Emily and went to put something in the cupboard above the sink. A few minutes later I looked down and she was holding a container I hadn’t given her. It took me a few moments to realize that she had swiped it out of the drying rack when I was at the cupboard. She is stealthy now!
Each day one of my challenges is finding new “toys” for Emily to be interested in. She is very curious and if she has already chewed the life out of something and we keep trying to give it to her, she picks it up and purposefully drops it to the side. I have to remember to hide the uninteresting toys for a few days and to make them new again. This is her excited face mid-dive to eat her beet stress ball.
This old AAA card is a winner! She still loves this one after two weeks.
Andrew and Emily love building little forts together out of a few pillows a blanket. Emily gets so excited in her little hideout and squeals with joy.
Andrew thought it would be fun to take Emily to class in his backpack. She fit pretty well, but alas, she stayed home with me and went to bed.
There is a lot of piano playing these days. Emily is getting really fast at grabbing the music so I’ve switched to having her sit on the bench instead of my lap.
Emily rarely hangs out in her swing anymore, but a few days ago I was exhausted and she hadn’t taken a nap so it seemed like a perfect idea. She just chewed on her pacifier and chatted away until she fell asleep.
Andrew and Emily worked together to pump up his bike tires so he could bike to campus this week (because it is WARM). He strapped her in the baby carrier and she leaned waaaay back and laughed as he went up and down. Great picture, no. Great moment, most definitely.
We’ve been feeding Emily rice cereal in the evening. Last night she was more interested in the lid on the table than eating. It began with her just hitting it so it made a loud noise on the table. Then she figured out how to twist in her bumbo and use one foot to push herself closer to it as it moved away. Proof that I can never leave her unsupervised now.
Another game that Andrew and Emily play often is Andrew billowing a blanket around Emily and she yells, squeals, and wiggles with excitement.

so sweet! I love all the pictures!!

The bike tire picture and caption made me laugh out loud in the Periodicals section. “She leaned waaaaay back.” SO cute. It’s so good of Andrew to let her help him with things, even when it’s surely not convenient. Adorable.
