Emily loves putting on her (and our) winter apparel. Andrew helped her out with his gloves and she loved waving her arms around in them. She reminds us of a penguin/hockey player with them on.
I had to run an errand without Emily so Andrew came home and spent some time with her and made chicken parmesan for dinner. He and Emily took a break part way through the process.
Emily spends a lot of time playing the piano every day and turning the pages to music. Her favorite is the Children’s Songbook. In a desperate moment I got out the block set last Saturday I made when Andrew and I were first married from the scraps of our coffee table and end table. Emily loves building things with us. After a week of solid play, we’ve tucked them away to give them to her for Christmas. She also LOVES reading her animal books. She now makes signs and noises for “monkey”, “seal”, “woodpecker”, “fish”, and “dog” (just the sign). She recognizes most of the animals and if we ask here where one is she points to it.
Last week we joined Andrew on campus to for the poster sessions his students put on every semester (and the free pizza). We spent a few minutes with him in his office.
At the beginning of the semester Andrew and some fellow graduate students did some office cleaning and discovered this computer disk. It was so awesome and unexpected they framed it. Perfect decoration for Technology graduate students.
Emily has discovered the joy of knocking. She knocks on our neighbor’s doors, on the bathroom door (an improvement from sticking her fingers under the door and crying), and recently added our sliding glass door to her things to knock list.
She is quick to give a smile – I’m not sure if this was for me or the camera. She also discovered the penguin on her sweatshirt and when we ask her what penguins do she waddles.
Andrew’s old phone has been lost for a few months and we found it this last week under the couch. It has once again reclaimed its place at the top of Emily’s favorite toys. It doesn’t turn on, she just loves pushing the buttons.
Emily is lucky to have lots of friends her age to play with. It is so fun to watch them explore the world together and do things Andrew and I just can’t join her in like climbing diaper boxes.
This week Emily and I went over to a friend’s home to help them pack up for their move. Emily and this little guy were so cute playing together that we kept stopping to peak in on them. They spent a lot of time pounding on the window and watching cars. At one point we found them kissing each other. They each would do silly things and both laugh hysterically. We will miss them but are very excited for the adventures they are off to.
Emily loves sitting on things that are her height, including Andrew’s stomach. She just walked right over and sat down. Her room is usually a lot cleaner because she loves putting things away. Sometimes she also loves pulling things out of her drawers too so we can put them away again.
I was working in the kitchen for a few minutes and came to check on silent Emily. I was surprised to find her chilling in the basket with her phone.
Once again she was quick to smile, and I’m not sure if it was for me or the camera.
I bought gas for less than $2 a gallon!!! I can’t remember the last time that happened.
