On Friday Andrew took Laura and Emily to go buy presents for Nathan. Lydia was asleep so the two of us first found studs in the wall to hang the peg board.
Next we went outside and threw the football around, just the two of us. It was an absolute delight to play catch, trying to break our record of five catches in a row. We tied it a few times but didn’t beat it.
Then we read some silly books on the couch and had a good laugh.
On Saturday morning we started the day off with a pancake breakfast.
Afterwards Nathan and I went to the store to pick out his ice cream cake and get blue streamers and balloons. He was hoping for the same peppermint ice cream that we found for Emily’s cake but it was out of stock. We decided to get mint ice cream and then found peppermint candies to smash up to put in it and on it.
When we got home I started the cake while Andrew worked with the kids to decorate the birthday room in blue.
The girls were soooooooo excited for him to open his presents. Laura was bursting all night to tell him what they bought but still managed to keep the surprise.
He got two hot wheels cars, tools for his tool belt (screw drivers, a level, and measuring tape) and a plant identification book.
Andrew got a block of wood and pre drilled holes in it that he could screw and unscrew screws into with his new screen driver.
At dinner we shared all the things we love about Nathan and the story of how he was born. He blew out his candles with one blow and we all enjoyed his delicious cake.
