Dear Nathan,
The first month of your life has been an adventure for our family. You have handled it all in stride by sleeping A LOT during the day and having a typical newborn schedule at night – you still earn your nickname Night Owl Nathan. You fall asleep well on your own with a pacifier and in any location (crib, bouncy chair, swing, car seat, our arms) and nothing can wake you up, not even a diaper change.
The last few days you have been more awake in the mornings and it has been so fun to see your eyes during the day. We think you might have blue eyes, but we’ll have to wait and see. You are very patient and usually content to just sit and watch the action. Sometimes, and it is becoming more frequent, you just want to be held upright on our shoulders and cuddle. You give very strong hugs and stay very close. I love it!
You are patient with your big sister Emily who loves having you part of her life. You help turn off her light and tuck her in at bedtime. You love tummy time and it is something that you two do together now.
You have wonderful curly hair, an adorable dimple on your left cheek, and incredibly long fingers and toes, legs, and torso.
You eat well, but you end up with some awful bubbles in your tummy which make you sooooo sad. We spend a lot of time burping you and holding you upright to try and help relieve your pain.
Nathan, we love you so much and are so glad you are part of our family!
A little behind the scenes footage. Emily got really excited when she saw a “towel” on Nathan’s chair. She wanted to take turns sitting in it and holding Nathan’s elephant. On the way to the office she passed the bath seat and she figured that would make a great seat for Emily. Before we knew it they were both set up in their own chairs, with their own blankets, and each holding one of Nathan’s toys, all ready for lots of picture taking. It is so fun having the two of them together, and I love Emily’s enthusiasm for all we do in a day.
Emily “sleeping” like Nathan.
