Dear Laura,
Life with you here is so so good. Emily, Dad and I walk around all day saying things like, “I love Laura so much. I’m so glad she is here.” You are a sweet girl and heaven feels so close right now. I cherish the time I have you snuggled up on my chest, cuddled in and completely content. I wish we could hold onto these special moments with you as newborn.
Because you were born just after midnight, the first three days we were up all night long. You wanted to eat often and then had lots of gas/diapers so we were sleeping in 45 minute increments. Around day four you switched to an around the clock three hour eating schedule that lasted until today.
You are starting to have longer periods of being awake. We love seeing your eyes and having your hang out with the family. Dad and I love having you around in the evenings, just the three of us. As soon as you wake up you cry out to let us know that you are ready to eat. Unless you are uncomfortable or starving you are quite content to just look around, quietly taking in the world. After you’ve been awake for about an hour at most you are ready to drift off to sleep. While Dad has been around this week he has been putting you down for naps and its a special time for the both of you.
Laura I love you more than I can describe. It is an absolute joy and privilege to be your mother. I’m excited to watch you grow and your personality unfold. I wonder what you talked about with God before you came and what you are going to do here on earth.
Love you, sweet Laura.
I love your long fingers and toes.
I love your soft hair that curls when it is wet.
Just hanging out, looking tiny and adorable.
