So I’ve decided that this semester I am going to learn about spices. Actually I sort of decided, sort of was externally motivated by an English assignment. But no matter how I got to this point, the important thing is that I’m moving forward with excited gusto. Into what exactly?
For our wedding (over a year ago now!) we were given a wonderful spice rack. How many of those spices have been used? One. Out of 16. I know it is pathetic. Now every week I will be doing a bit of research to learn about a spice, figure out best uses and recipes, and hopefully cook something successfully. By the end of the semester every jar should be opened and used. And I’ll be sharing the whole learning experience with you here amidst the smatterings of news regarding our lives. Hopefully we all come out alive.
Here’s the list to look forward to:
- Dill weed
- Paprika
- Thyme
- Sage
- Ginger
- Marjoram
- Savory
- Fennel
- Coriander
- Basil
- Rosemary
- Oregano
- Parsley
I know that is only 13 – I left out cinnamon and Italian Seasoning. And we already use another jar. Wish me luck!
