This Thanksgiving we have overwhelming feelings of gratitude. We are in awe that we made it to Connecticut and have a safe, beautiful space for our family to live (and a dishwasher!!!) with great neighbors. We are grateful that Andrew was able to finish his dissertation. We are grateful he has a good job here. We are grateful for the assurance that this is exactly where we are supposed to be right now.
We are also grateful for these two hard-earned principles that we learned from the last few months:
- Hard doesn’t mean wrong
- Don’t try to make a decision when there isn’t one to be made
The actual day arrived between many stressful deadlines in a new city without friends or family. We took advantage of our situation to just enjoy much needed time together.
We spent the morning setting up the Christmas tree since we had one day together and we had to maximize our time. The kids and I got the tree all set up and Andrew joined us for putting ornaments on the tree.
We made our second annual turkey-free menu with all of our favorites. White bean and kale Soup, winter citrus salad, sourdough bread and sweet potatoes. I was pleasantly surprised to see just how well the sourdough rises here in Connecticut – it might have been my best loaf yet.
