This third month with you has been a lot of fun. You went from cooing with us to squealing and screeching. We love the smiles that you give; lots in the mornings and evenings when we are getting you up and putting you to bed and plenty during the day too. You also realized this week that you are a little ticklish. We discovered this fun development while getting you dressed and you scrunched up and gave a smile and a little noise. We don’t exploit this information so you are safe from tickle attacks. You are becoming more social and smiling and squealing with other family and friends. You especially like “talking” with men with deep voices and little children.
You are a very curious girl, looking around all the time to see what is going on and who is around. You love places with lots of people to look at, like church, restaurants and airports. When you see something exciting you kick your legs all around and make excited noises and breath fast. It is so fun to watch you becoming more aware of your surroundings.
You are tolerating tummy time – probably because you have been in a houses full of people for the last three weeks that are happy to join you on the floor. Spinning yourself around 180 degrees doesn’t take you much time at all, although you don’t seem to realize they you are actually moving. You are also enjoying rolling onto your side and sucking on your hands while you look around.
Speaking of sucking on your hands, you have added constant drooling to your repertoire of tricks. Lots of it! We really just need to pull out the bibs.
You are an awesome traveler now, better than your parents. We are impressed with how patient you are during long days. You have figured out how to suck on your fingers and that helps distract you from car seat screaming. Sometimes you even fall asleep now! We really like both these developments.
Bath time has become a relaxing experience for you. You just hang out in the warm water. Your favorite part is still when we wash your hair.
You are still our expert sleeper, giving us 8-9 hours, a quick feeding, and 3-4 more hours after that! Earlier this week you had an upset stomach and it was after midnight before you would stay in bed. We were all sooo tired but every time we got you out of bed you gave us a huge smile, before you continued crying. We are very grateful that it was a one time thing and not your usual.
You are getting so big! I realized this week after seeing and hearing a five week old baby that you have left the newborn stage. I’m amazed at how quickly you are growing. We love seeing you learn and grow.
Love you Emily.
