This summer was a lot like climbing a mountain. There were some fun parts, some really hard parts, some burned-out-and-I-just-want-it-to-end parts, but we really tried to enjoy the journey that it was. And I think we did well, thanks to plenty of miracles and tender mercies from God. We felt His involvement in our lives during the good and bad moments, for which I am both humbled and grateful.
Three days ago our family came back together, full time. For this moment we are at the top of the mountain, enjoying the view. I forgot, or maybe I didn’t appreciate, the joy that comes from being a family unit. Working as a team, in the SAME LOCATION with similiarish hours, never felt so good. We’ve done lots of mundane things (grocery shopping, cleaning, unpacking, dishes) but it has been so fun doing them together. Even sitting next to each other in the car is pretty amazing.
There have been lots of little moments where time has just stopped for me. Watching Andrew and Emily read books, play peek-a-boo and chasing each other in and around a cardboard box, playing the piano together and strumming the guitar, and eating meals together.
Andrew left bright and early for his first day of his second year of grad school. The heat and humidity were alive and well in Indiana today, which explains the fogged up pictures from taking the camera from a decent indoor temperature to a not so decent outdoor temperature.
Emily was very interested in all of the wildlife, trees, leaves, sticks, and cars driving by. As soon as Andrew hopped on his bike we put on shoes and walked to the park (across our little parking lot) where Emily explored the great outdoors.
I think it is going to be a wonderful year.

I absolutely love the picture of Emily and Andrew playing the guitar!
