Our Utah trip was full and went by very quickly. After we landed Andrew’s family picked us up and we spent a wonderful (and late!) evening chatting. In the morning my friend and former roommate Michelle picked up Emily and I and transported us to Provo so we could see each other before she took off on a family trip.
The much anticipated Forbush Family Reunion began for us with lunch on Saturday in the Spanish Fork Canyon. I took two perfect pictures and then decided I really just wanted to soak in the memories and not be separated by a lens. There was lots of family, food, cool mountain air, and a hilarious game that had young and old walking around and making animal noises.
A walk with my Dad, then a two hour church on Sunday was followed by the family gathering to share what we’ve each been working on during the year (a song, a novel, two quilts, flips, and performance videos). We had our first annual Blomquist genealogy meeting. And we ate a delicious apple pie.
Monday I met with a friend from Jerusalem, Jess, on campus while Christine got settled at BYU gymnastics camp. Brian joined our family for lunch at the Cougareat, and then we all went to Mr. Mac to get clothes for Brian’s mission. I also ran into a former co-worker, Keala, which was a wonderful surprise! I then went up to Andrew’s family Monday night to spend the week with them. My parents drove us up and Emily screamed the entire way from Provo to West Valley, a new record I think!
Tuesday we went to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City. It was a bit warm, but it was fun to see all of the animals. Emily is becoming more interested in the animals every time we go to the zoo!
There should be more water fountains like this in the world.
Watching the elephants with Grandma Jackson.
The zoo going crew.
Wednesday was Sam’s arrival, and Thursday we hung out with the family at home. We watched Frozen with Sam as his first movie in two years, ate outside, read books, played the piano, looked at his mission scrapbooks and went through his camera memory card.
On the 4th of July Emily and I went back down to Provo with my parents. We went straight to Christine’s gymnastic performance and saw some of the things she had worked on during the week.
The rest of the 4th was spent with all of our family gathered at my aunt and uncles’s home, as well as my friend Jenny. We had a BBQ and chatted until it was time for everyone to head to The Stadium of Fire. After our first full week in Utah, Emily and I elected to have a quiet (and early) evening with my grandma and talk to Andrew about his adventures of blowing up a watermelon, cantaloupe, and pineapple and watching the fireworks that the Vivint crew did in the hotel parking lot where they had been staying.
